January 22 will not be a holiday in Karnataka; central government offices will observe a half-day.

The Karnataka government has confirmed that January 22 will be a working day for schools in the state, but private schools will live-stream the Ram Temple Pran Pratishtha ceremony for their students. However, all Central Government offices, institutions, and industrial units in India, including Karnataka, will observe a half-day until 2:30 p.m. on January 22 to commemorate the Ram Temple Pran Pratishtha event.

The Bengaluru unit of Sri Rama Sene has also written to Governor Thawar Chand Gehlot, urging that he instruct the state government to arrange a holiday on January 22 for schools and colleges.

If there is a law and order issue in (Bengaluru) city or state, the relevant deputy commissioners will decide whether to declare a holiday, according to an Indian Express story.

The Associated Managements of Schools in Karnataka (KAMS) has directed all of its member schools not to declare a student holiday and instead to live-stream the consecration ceremony.

On January 22, schools and institutions in Gurugram, Noida, and Greater Noida in the National Capital Region will be closed. The pran-pratishta day will also be marked as a ‘dry day’ in Noida, Greater Noida, and Gurugram. All types of shops, including booze and bhang outlets, will stay closed.
