Bengaluru police file a FIR against protesters for demonstrating silently in favor of Palestine.

Officials reported on Wednesday that the Bengaluru Police had filed an FIR against a group of persons for holding a silent protest in favor of Palestine in the city.
According to a senior police official, the group that carried placards and posters and performed a silent walk down St Mark’s Road in solidarity with Palestinians on Sunday did not have permission to hold such a protest.
According to a High Court decision, protests can only be staged in the city’s Freedom Park, he added, adding that the group’s quiet march also disturbed pedestrian traffic.
“As a result, an FIR was filed against the protesters under Indian Penal Code sections 149 (unlawful assembly), 188 (disobedience to order duly promulgated by public servant), 283 (danger or obstruction in a public way or line of navigation), 290 (public nuisance), and 291 (committing a nuisance after injunction to discontinue).” “More investigation is being conducted,” he stated.
