A retired 63-year-old guy has lost Rs 70,00,000 to cyber criminals in the city’s Whitefield CEN police limits. After accepting a friend request from an anonymous woman, the victim lost all of his savings and retirement assets. The defendants promised the victim goods worth Rs 25 crore and forced him to pay. On October 1, the victim accepted the buddy request, and he lost his money within the next 25 days.

The victim lives in I Phase, Chandra Layout. Mariya Leonasmik identified herself as the woman who began speaking with him on October 1. On October 8, she texted him, saying she’d send him some pricey gifts. The following day, she notified the victim that the gifts had been delivered. On October 11, another con artist posing as a customs official called the victim.

He soon received calls informing him that a courier with a couple lakh dollars was on its way to him. In total, the victim paid the accused Rs 70 lakh for the luxury presents he never received. For the gifts, the accused forced him to pay customs duty, currency exchange fees, and taxes.
