Officials from the DRDO cut off tree branches in Bengaluru, prompting the RFO to submit a complaint.

Officials of the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) allegedly had 13 large tree branches chopped in CV Raman Nagar ward without authorization from the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike’s forest division, in violation of the Tree Preservation Act. The BBMP forest department was unaware of the situation and arrived on the scene only when TNIE phoned them for a response.

According to BLG Swamy, Deputy Conservator of Forests (DCF), BBMP, the Range Forest Officer (RFO) involved has been asked to file a case because this is a violation of the guidelines.
Thimmappa told TNIE, Range Forest Officer, Bengaluru East Division, that he met with PNS Reddy from the Estate Management Unit, DRDO Township, and discovered that 13 tree branches in CV Raman Nagar Ward were allegedly cut by them.
“These 13 tree branches were felled without informing the BBMP.” “Senior officers of the BBMP forest department have asked me to register a case and issue a notice to the official concerned because the action of cutting tree branches without intimation and following due procedure like inspection by the tree officer and RFO is against the Tree Preservation Act, 1976,” said Thimmappa, adding that the BBMP tree officer will decide on the next course of action based on the response.
