In response to the recent spike of COVID-19 cases nationwide, the Union Health Ministry has issued a new notice. Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah stated on Thursday that people should not panic but rather take efforts to reduce their risk.
“There’s no cause for panic. Instead, safety measures must be followed to avoid entering the danger area. In Bengaluru, the capital of Karnataka, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah told reporters that mask wear is mandatory for anyone over 60.
In Karnataka, 92 instances have been found thus far. Seventy-two of these patients are housebound under quarantine. There are just twenty hospitals, seven of which are intensive care units. Three people have passed away thus far, but not just from COVID
The JN.1 sub-strain has been identified as the cause of the recent rise; among its most typical symptoms are cough and slight fever. Officials claim that the sub-strain, which has caused 16 deaths in the past several weeks, is currently widespread in 36–40 nations.
Meanwhile, the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare reported 300 new COVID-19 cases that were active as well as three deaths in Kerala on December 20.
There were 2,669 COVID-19 active cases nationwide as of this writing.
In light of the recent rise in COVID-19 cases in certain states, the Union Minister of Health and Family Welfare, Mansukh Mandaviya, chaired a high-level meeting on Wednesday to discuss the COVID-19 situation in India and the state of the public health system’s readiness for surveillance, containment, and management of the virus.
Mandaviya underscored at the conference the significance of maintaining vigilance and readiness to counter novel and developing COVID-19 virus strains.”It is important to be alert and prepared against new and emerging strains of the COVID-19 virus,” Mandaviya stated.
