Bengaluru Traffic Police Phases Out PublicEye App, Introduces ASTraM for Reporting Violations

The Bengaluru Traffic Police (BTP) has officially discontinued the PublicEye app, which was widely used by citizens to report traffic violations. The authorities have introduced a new platform, ASTraM, as its replacement, offering enhanced features and a more user-friendly experience.

A Shift to ASTraM

BTP made the announcement on X (formerly Twitter), stating that PublicEye, developed in collaboration with iChangeMyCity, is no longer being monitored. Citizens are now encouraged to download and use ASTraM, which is available on both the Google Play Store and Apple App Store.

The new app not only allows users to report traffic violations but also provides real-time traffic updates, fine payment options, and other essential features to improve road safety and traffic management in the city.

Why the Transition?

The shift from PublicEye to ASTraM is aimed at streamlining traffic management and enhancing citizen engagement with a more efficient system. The new app is expected to offer a seamless and integrated experience, making it easier for people to contribute to traffic rule enforcement.

Encouraging Public Participation

The BTP emphasized the importance of citizen participation in maintaining road discipline. "By transitioning to this new platform, citizens can continue to play a vital role in maintaining order on our roads while benefiting from a more efficient and user-friendly experience," the traffic police stated in their announcement.

Bengaluru has long struggled with traffic congestion and violations, making public cooperation crucial in ensuring road safety. The introduction of ASTraM aligns with the city's efforts to leverage technology for better governance and traffic management.

How to Get ASTraM?

Users can download ASTraM from:

Google Play Store (for Android users)

Apple App Store (for iOS users)

With the new app, Bengaluru’s citizens can continue to report violations efficiently while also staying updated with the latest traffic conditions in the city.
